Fans of Japanese pop culture gather from all over the world. They'll attend concerts by Japanese performers rarely seen on these shores, watch the latest in Japanese animation (called anime, by those in the know), sit in on fan panels covering almost every imaginable topic ("How to Become a Samurai in 1 Hour," for example), meet artists, writers and celebrities.

Over 26,000 fans attended last years convention, and 17,000 Otakus have pre-registered for this years con!

Concert performers include: Naomi Tamura, whose many hits include the themes for several anime series.

I miss Otakon...I went in 2007 with a group of staff for an anime reviews website I was...writing reviews for. XD Was a really great time and a big treat to have Press access to all events & Dealers Room. I even saw Seki Tomokazu (my all-time role model for voice acting) there! I wish I could go again, but I don't have the money to blow on hotels accommodations for two cons.

Definitely the ideal con on the East coast, seconded to Animazement and Anime Boston, depending on where you are.

I'm gonna try and best to lose a lot of weight this coming year, so (among other things) I'll look better in my cosplays. Hopefully I'll whip up some new cosplays this year, too...I just need some ideas....
